Update: the fundraising campaign is extended to 17 July.
In recent years, violence in Israel and Palestine has escalated more than ever. Gaza lies in ruins, Palestinians are being driven from their homes daily both in the West Bank and southern Israel. In northern Israel, citizens, both Jewish and Palestinian, live under constant threat from Hezbollah’ missiles. The ongoing wars claim lives every day, Jewish, Palestinian and Lebanese alike. It is a situation that benefits a few in power while the population of the area pays a terrible price.
At the same time, globally, the Israel-Palestine issue is frequently instrumentalized to intensify domestic divides and win short-term political gains, rather than to work for positive change.
Therefore, it is more important than ever to support joint Jewish-Palestinian movements in Israel-Palestine, movements that work for peace and understanding and that are rooted in civil society.
Standing Together shows that Jewish-Palestinian cooperation can work at the grassroots level and be a force for long-term opinion-oriented change. Standing Together has been in existence for ten years and has grown significantly since October 7, 2023, both in Israel and through the Friends of Standing Together support groups around the world.
Right now, Friends of Standing Together Sweden is participating in Standing Together’s international fundraising campaign to support their ongoing activities.
The collection runs until July 7 17 July, and during that time all contributions will be doubled. By contributing to the collection, you can help Standing Together’s important work develop!
The contributions will, among other things, fund a Get-Out-the-Vote campaign to mobilize Palestinian citizens ofIsrael (20% of Israel’s population) to exercise their civil rights and vote in the parliamentary elections in October, as well as to finance Standing Together’s “Solidarity Guard” which maintains a protective presence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. They will also go towards supporting Standing Together’s student chapters around Israel and their regional centers, “Purple Houses,” where local meetings, planning, and training of activists take place.
All contributions count! Use the link below to access FOST Sweden’s own fundraising page during the campaign. Remember that your contribution will be doubled if you donate before July 7th through the fundraising page!
